Control of Natural Light   We can also control natural light.  The Vantage Controls system has an astronomical clock that tracks sunrise and sunset. Now we can control your motorized shades, blinds, drapes, even your windows, automatically. Of course, you can always over-ride this mode with the touch of a button.   Take advantage of the sun for heating, or close the shades for cooling. As the ambient light in the room increases, the room lighting can dim, saving energy in the process. Integrated Control   The Vantage Control system does more than lighting control. Here are some examples:   A BATH button closes the blinds, turns on the fans, sets the heated flooring to the proper temperature, sets the lighting scene, and begins the audio/video program. . A  MOVIE button lowers the screen, turns on the projector, turns on the BD or DVD player and receiver, adjusts the lighting with the proper fade, and closes the blinds. If the doorbell rings, the system can alert you with a video view from the front door camera on the screen or with blinking lights. PAUSE raises the lights and plays your favorite pre-selected music until you are ready to resume watching the movie.    Remotely dial up the system from your cell phone on the way home from work to cool the home in the summer, or warm the hot tub in the winter.   A Party button disables the sprinkler system, illuminates specific rooms for the proper lighting scenes, and sets the audio system to a pre-programmed play list.    A Vacation button will operate your lights, audio, video, and any other equipment you desire to make it appear that you are home.    There is no end to what can be controlled in your home. Energy Savings Since all loads are centrally controlled, by simply adding your energy consumption (via another electrical meter) to the Vantage system, you can now view your energy usage in real time. It is graphically displayed as an Energy Dashboard on any of your LCD displays. From here, you can specify a lighting or temperature level and see immediately the resulting energy usage in watts and dollars.  Finally, you’ll know what you are allocating to various functions, and can get control of your energy usage. Unlimited Scalability  The Vantage system consists of one or more control enclosures.  One cabinet contains the master controller and the others link to it via a low voltage cable. The cabinets contain load modules.  The most common is a dimming module for lighting loads, but there are also fan modules, relay modules for discrete loads, and others. All keypads and other interfaces (such as the thermostats, shade controllers, and music servers) link together on a low voltage cable consisting or two conductors.  Multiple controllers can be linked for hundreds of loads and thousands of keypad buttons.  Additional wireless keypads or localized control or interfaces can be added now or in the future. If the home is completed, central control can be achieved by a wireless or localized (Scenepoint) system.  Of course, all firmware is fully upgradeable so your system is never obsolete.
